DEPARTMENTS OF THE CENTRE
Hygiene of oral cavity needs to be maintained professionally through a set of procedures aimed at an optimal cleaning of the teeth of the soft and hard dental plaque and hardening of the teeth enamel with the medicines containing fluoride. These are applied after the cleaning of the teeth.
Following the procedures needed to maintain the hygiene of oral cavity significantly reduces the possibility of tooth decay (scientifically called “caries”). Besides, the removal of dental plaque, especially in the areas of teeth necks and those under the gums is an effective method of prevention of periodontitis. Full dental cleaning at Dent Lounge will whiten your teeth, make the gums look healthier and your breath more fresh. And the risk of tooth decay and of any disease of the gum tissues will be reduced several times!
Ultrasound cleaning eliminates tooth plaque of any density. The standards of this procedure should be followed so that ultrasound of certain frequency be delivered at a certain angle. The frequency of vibrations of a scaler’s tip is between 25 to 30 thousand Hertz. This vibration slices off both soft and hard layers of plaque. Cleaning procedure can be 45 minutes to 1,5 hour long depending on the amount of the plaque.
This method of professional cleaning consists in the cleaning of the teeth with a fine abrasive powder made primarily of calcium. The stream of this powder mixed with water and air polishes the teeth under pressure. Crystals of natrium bicarbonate are among the components of abrasive powder. These crystals are so fine that they can cut off any tooth deposit without damaging tooth enamel.
Polishing and Strengthening of Tooth Enamel
Tooth enamel can be hardened by fluoride and calcium after the procedure of the removal of dental deposits. This strengthening of the enamel is very good for the teeth. Fluoride and calcium are the microelements that make part of the dental bone tissue making the teeth strong. If fluoride or calcium permeate from time to time the enamel that covers the teeth, it becomes harder and more resistant. Thus treated, teeth can stay healthy for years and years.
Professional hygienic procedures include:
- Check-up and consultation of a hygienist’s.
- Removal of soft and hard tooth plaque through the process called “scaling”, using the air flow machine.
- Cleaning of the gaps between the teeth.
- Polishing of the teeth.
- Covering of the teeth with fluoride and calcium.
- Improvement of skills of oral cavity hygiene.
- Choosing individually oral hygiene products for everyday use.
We treat tooth decay of children using most advanced methods and medicines. The treatment is painless and comfortable.
Diagnosing and Prevention
Diagnosis of the condition of your child’s teeth starts with a thorough check-up. First a dentist of Dent Lounge examines carefully all problematic areas of oral cavity and speaks with a little patient and his or her parents, thus getting all needed information. In many cases the doctor prescribes an oral hygiene procedure, as dental plaque impedes the diagnosing of tooth decay.
Tooth diagnosis made with targeted photo
Targeted photos of children teeth are done by a device called radiovisiograph MyRay (Italy) that emits minimal amount of x-rays. Having highly sensitive sensors, it can display on a computer screen detailed image of a tooth, making printed images unnecessary. Tooth decay can be thus detected through such detailed macro image of one or more adjacent teeth.
- This advanced technology makes it possible to reduce the amount of x-rays affecting human body by 90%, which is important for a growing organism;
- the check-up is done quickly and comfortably, the child doesn’t get tired;
- the doctor gets a real-time imagery of utmost quality;
- the image is extremely detailed thus making diagnosing process fast and accurate.
If a printed image is needed, it can be quickly printed. It can also be saved on any device, sent via e-mail, etc.
* The use of a visiograph is absolutely safe for even the youngest children, as a single x-ray dose for one image is 2-3 micro Sieverts (annual acceptable dose is 1000 mcSv), therefore there are no age restrictions for visiograph’s use.
Preventive pediatric dental check-ups
How is a check-up done ?
- The doctor examines oral cavity and assess the results of any previous treatment
- He/she will evaluate the little patient’s domestic hygiene procedure and will correct it, if need be, by teaching what should be done or how to do things better, and will prompt the best individual dental hygiene products
- Professional hygienic procedure for oral cavity will be done by a Dent Lounge dentist
- If need be, the doctor will advise you to consult other specialists of related dentistry disciplines (the children most often need consultations from orthodontists, physicians, allergologists-immunologists and pediatricians).
Professional dental hygiene for children
It is impossible to remove all the dental plaque in domestic conditions, and even regular flossing can remove part of dental plaque and food products residue. Pediatric dentist can do thorough and complete removal of dental plaque using professional hygienic procedure.
It is necessary to make a professional hygienic procedure before any other dental manipulations, treatment or tooth extractions. Any treatment of badly cleaned teeth not entirely free of dental plaque has lower chance for successful and durable results.
Insufficient hygiene since the moment the kids’ teeth start erupting causes the accumulation of a soft bacterial dental plaque, and, subsequently, of hardened plaque, called “dental stone”. These formations cause various diseases, like caries (tooth decay), gingivitis, stomatitis, cysts, etc. Professional hygiene is needed to prevent these diseases and to make their treatment more effective, if they have been already developed.
The doctor cleans the child’s teeth with special compounds and special brushes, as well as with flosses. Cleaning equipment is used, when necessary. The teeth are polished after cleaning and are covered with special mineral gels for strengthening of the teeth enamel.
How often professional hygienic procedure is needed?
A child should undergo professional check-up by a pediatric dentist once every 3-4 months. Even the smallest changes in enamel can then be detected by the doctor, and he will be able to prevent tooth decay and register the development of any other possible disease. It is impossible to reach similar effectiveness of cleaning and plaque dislodging domestically.
Fluoride treatment and protection
Fluoride treatment of child’s teeth is an effective means of strengthening tooth enamel. The method consists in covering the tooth surface with special compounds, as a result of which the ions of fluoride permeate the dentine and harden the enamel and terminate the processes of destruction. Fluoride treatment protects fragile teeth of the children against the development of diseases.
- The new teeth of small children are not strong enough and their enamel is not sufficiently mineralized and can thus be easily damaged by the acids, produced by the bacteria that causes tooth decay. Mineralization of a tooth takes approximately 2 years. Child’s teeth need additional protection during this period, and fluoride treatment can help.
- Cleaning and protection of enamel of the teeth of the adolescents is also needed, because as the child grows, his or her hormonal status changes. The adolescents’ saliva becomes more dense and can no longer wash the oral cavity and tooth enamel as effectively as before. Besides, the parents’ control of the dental hygiene of their children becomes more relaxed.
- Protection of enamel before and after the braces.
Fluoride treatment of milk teeth can be started, when a child reaches 1,5-2 years of age. It is done upon doctor’s advice.
Fluoride treatment is contraindicated, when there is fluorosis of tooth enamel.
Fluoride treatment is done at the dentist’s, when the surface of the teeth is covered by special fluoride varnish, applied by special brush. This procedure is absolutely painless and safe. For fluoride varnish to protect the enamel reliably, it should be applied twice a year.
What is remineralization therapy and why is it needed?
At Dent Lounge dental clinic we do both fluoride treatment of the teeth, and a complex remineralization therapy, the so-called remotherapy. Remineralization therapy (remotherapy) is a modern method of advanced treatment and restoration of tooth enamel, enabling to normalize mineral composition of the enamel of the teeth. Remotherapy allows to permeate the enamel with different minerals that can harden it and make it more resistant. Micro defects of the enamel are eliminated, and it becomes more solid and less vulnerable to external factors.
Treating the fissures
Fissures are small grooves on the surfaces of the molar teeth (grinders). It is in the fissures that dental plaque or calculus accumulate, casing tooth decay.
Fissures are different in different people, being usually narrow and twisted, but sometimes even getting broader in depth. In such cases scaling or even deep cleansing can not dislodge dental plaque entirely. But the bacteria, in contrast to a toothbrush, can get there freely, causing tooth decay, or the caries.
Development and spread of tooth decay can not be prevented, unless the fissures are filled with harmless dental sealants. These, as a rule, are special acrylic resins that can fill the fissures. Tooth surface becomes even and the plaque can be removed entirely. The fissures in molar and premolar teeth need to be sealed first of all, because they have the most manifest fissures.
When is the sealing needed?
As a part of prevention it can be offered to the children who had already lost their temporary (or milk) teeth, but the enamel of permanent teeth is yet rather soft and the teeth themselves have not yet strengthened.
The sealing is recommended especially to those patients, whose fissures are particularly deep and curved. Their depth can be measured by a dentist, and he will recommend further steps. The sealants are quite durable, on average they serve for five years.
Fissure sealants may occasionally drop out. That is why it is recommended to visit your dentist regularly, so that he can inspect the teeth and restore the sealant cover.
How the fissures are sealed?
The process of fissure sealing does not cause any pain or even unpleasant sensation in a child. The dentist thoroughly cleans the tooth and the fissure with a brush. After that the tooth is covered with a gel that absorbs moisture, so that it gets dry. By doing this not only the tooth becomes sufficiently dry, but enamel gets a little rough, so that the sealant then better adheres to the surface of the tooth. The fissure is then filled with the sealant made mainly of resin. Such sealant is effective and remains in the fissure for a long time. This entire procedure is absolutely painless. In conclusion of the treatment the doctor checks whether the sealant impedes the closing of the jaws. If any part of the sealant interferes with normal closure, it is removed by the dentist.
ICON, a treatment of tooth decay without dental drilling machine
A new technology with good prospects was developed recently, allowing “conservation” of decayed areas of tooth with special compound ICON (DMG, Germany). It makes possible to treat tooth decay in its initial stages without drilling and fillings. The technology is simple in use, painless and effective.
ICON has unveiled the new opportunities to treat the early stage tooth decay:
- No harm to healthy dentine (bone tissues of a tooth)
- Only one visit to a dentist
- No drilling or fillings
- No painkillers
- The dentine is impregnated with a special compound of high penetration capacity. It permeates the smallest capillaries of enamel and dentine, blocking the spread of the byproducts of the bacteria that causes tooth decay. Tooth decay is thus “conserved”!
- ICON therapy can be considered a link between preventive and invasive treatment. But it can only be done, if tooth decay is detected at its early stage. To “catch” the beginning of the disease one needs to visit one’s dentist regularly and do professional oral cavity hygiene procedure.
Treatment of the decay of primary teeth
How can primary, or milk tooth decay be identified?
- White or dark dots or stains appear on the grinding surfaces of the teeth;
- the surface of affected tooth becomes slightly rough;
- the teeth start aching, reacting at cold and hot, sweet and sour drinks and food;
- tooth decay may provoke bad breath;
- a defect in an affected tooth, a cavity, can be easily detected at a medium term or advanced stage tooth decay.
We advise you not to wait and turn to a dentist immediately after the first traces of tooth decay are identified. Otherwise the bacteria will penetrate even deeper and affect the most sensitive part of a child’s tooth, the pulp, in which there are the nerves and blood vessels. This can provoke sharp pain.
Dental implanting is the most modern method of restoration of a last tooth, and it is most sought after by the patients. Implants help preserve not only nice smile, but give you self-confidence and a look as natural as it can be. Dental implants are the most durable and reliable solution for a restoration of lost natural teeth. In comparison with any other traditional methods, dental implants provide the most aesthetical way of restoring your teeth, as they result in the most naturally looking teeth. Dental implants allow to make dental prosthetics without tooth preparation and to avoid bridge work and crowns even in case of a loss of natural teeth.
In our dental clinic we successfully diagnose, plan and fit dental implants in place of natural teeth, using the treatment methods based on 3D imaging.
In case the operations of tooth preservation are already not feasible and it is impossible to save the tooth, it is extracted. While extracting the damaged tooth, the doctors make their best to preserve as much bone tissue of the jaw as possible, so that dental implant can be installed in place of the lost tooth.
Our doctors use such advanced treatment technologies as piezosurgery with ultrasonic devices, making the treatment much less traumatic and recovery much easier for patients.
All surgical procedures are done under local or general anesthesia.Various methods of anesthesia are used by the Dent Lounge doctors. Anesthetics are chosen for each patient individually depending on the amount of work planned, type of treatment, health conditions and special needs of the patient.
Modern dental treatment involves advanced medical equipment and innovative materials. This makes possible maximal precision and effectiveness in achieving the desired results. As dentistry develops, so do the methods and techniques of anesthetizing. Patient have nowadays an opportunity to receive a treatment that is high quality and comfortable and painless at the same time.
In general dental care local anesthesia is used most often. It stops sensation in targeted area of oral cavity for 60-90 minutes. This period of time is enough for dental treatment. But humans have two types of sensation, pain and tactile. Local anesthesia temporarily blocks the sensation of pain, but tactile sensation (touches, vibration, pressing) remains. patients can therefore have some painful sensations even after local anesthesia.
Sedation has recently become popular method of anesthesia for dental treatment. It stabilizes psychological and emotional condition of a patient without affecting his or her consciousness. Sedation allows to reduce sensitivity to pain and possible negative reactions, first of all the reactions of cardiovascular system. This method of anesthetic protection consists in intravenous injection of sedative medicine, after which the patient feels comfortably relaxed, almost snoozing, and local anesthesia provides absolute painlessness of the treatment. External stimuli are felt much less, but patients remain conscious and can react to dentist’s requests. Blood pressure remains stable, breathing normal, all vitally important reflexes in place, so that dental treatment continues with patient’s feeling comfortable and what anesthesiologists call “emergence”, or regaining of sensation, proceeds with great ease.
Sedation is advisable, if a patient feels psychological discomfort during dental treatment, vomiting reflex, has heightened blood pressure or has suffered cardiac arrest or a stroke. When sedatives are administered, the anesthesiologist is present at all times and monitors the patient’s cardiovascular functions. He can quickly react to any changes in patient’s condition and prevent any undesirable reactions of patient’s organism, thereby eliminating a risk of any complication and enabling effective dental treatment.
Pregnancy, allergy to local anesthetics, alcoholic inebriation are the contraindications to a treatment under sedatives.
An anesthesiologist must examine the patient before sedation and a minimal pre-surgery check-up in the form of:
- blood test with the count of platelets;
- ECG with its description.
It is highly advisable not to eat and drink for 3-6 hours before the treatment and to exclude alcohol beverages for 24 hours before surgical treatment.
More complicated conditions require general anesthesia, that is an absolute anesthetic protection with medicine-induced sleep, total loss of the sensation of pain and with the monitoring of all vital systems of patient’s body, including the monitoring of the depth of his/ her sleep.
General anesthesia is recommended, when the following indicators are present:
- Fear of dental treatment (stomatophobia).
- Insuperable vomiting reflex.
- Impossibility to achieve absolute lack of pain under local anesthesia.
- Neurological ailments.
- The need for extensive treatment.
- The need for complicated osteoplastic surgical operations in oral cavity.
- Multiple dental implants are planned for.
Patients usually leave the clinic by themselves or accompanied by the relatives one or two hours after the treatment. As a rule they do not experience any pain.
Any treatment involving any type of anesthesia is done in the Dent Lounge Dental Centre in accordance with best international standards of safety. Most advanced and modern anesthesia techniques are applied taking into consideration individual needs of every patient. You need not be afraid of visiting a dentist as pain and stress free dental treatment is absolutely real and within your reach!
Correctly aligned teeth are en vogue! Not only do they make your smile natural and nice, they are also indicative of modern views on human beauty, it is also an important pre-requisite of good health. Because often crowded or crooked teeth are the evidence of potentially worse conditions, like gum decay, difficulties with chewing, headaches, etc.
Dent Lounge Clinic offers a number of modern and effective methods of correction of children’s bites: braces, lingual braces, conventional fixed braces, custom-made gum shields and many others. All these methods make correction of child’s bite possible yet before he or she reaches adolescence, thus making treatment period shorter.
We also offer modern technologies of bite correction for teenagers and adult people. These are invisible Invisalign TM braces, lingual braces Incognito tailor-made for each patient individually, and many types of vestibular braces: ceramic, sapphire, metal. In our day and time it is quite possible to correct the twisted teeth, eliminate the gaps between the teeth, make the bite natural and correct, as well as improve your facial structure at any age.
A system called Invisalign is the most astonishing achievement in the field of teeth alignment technology.
Making your teeth absolutely straight without anyone noticing it has become quite possible! It is an alternative to braces systems. The new method of orthodontic treatment of the teeth of adults Invisalign captures by aesthetical nature of the process of treatment itself.
This method implies the use of a set of thin transparent removable and practically invisible aligners that the patient wears about 23 hours a day, removing them only when eating and for hygienic procedures of oral cavity.
Each aligner moves the teeth within two-three weeks to their destined positions, after which a next aligner in a series is used.
This technique does not require frequent visits to the doctor. Once every month and a half, or every couple of months is sufficient. The treatment may take from six weeks to two years, depending on how serious the misalignment is. New transparent aligners Invisalign TM are tоtally unnoticeable and really easy to use.
What has caused the formation of incorrect bite can only be determined through a thorough dental check-up that, as a rule, includes the following stages:
- if a child is the patient, detailed conversation with the parents is needed in to clarify when and how the misalignment formed. The parents can give the doctor a story of the child’s growth and development, whether he/she has had any bad habits, as sucking the dummies for too long, or fingers, or whether he/she liked to put his/her tongue in between the front teeth, etc.;
- visual examination (including examination of the photos) of the child’s face at different angles in order to study the condition of facial tissues (symmetry of facial folds, tension of facial muscles), teeth alignment and positioning of the jaws;
- cone beam computer tomography (CBCT) demonstrating the condition of the teeth and bone tissues in three mutually perpendicular projections with high resolution and image rate of 0,1 mm. This examination accurately determines the thickness of bone structure around misaligned teeth and allows to avoid complications, when the teeth are being aligned. CBCT identifies hidden pathologies that may not be seen in one projection as, for instance, in orthopantomogram or tele roentgenogram of a head.
Restorative treatment of your teeth is an affordable dental procedure today, and it is very much in demand. It can resolve a variety of problems and help you, for instance, look better aesthetically, have a beautiful smile and stop worrying about unattractive look of your teeth. On the other hand, it can help you medically by allowing you to avoid the development of a functional pathology. Those of us, who are not closely familiar with the way the jaws and teeth function and with the treatments of the teeth, may sometimes think that missing teeth are not a problem, that it will all be somehow compensated for by itself. But let us see, if it is really so.
What happens, if at least one tooth is missing?
The loss of even one tooth is a serious disadvantage for our organism. After one tooth is lost, the other teeth start moving to fill the gap, thus deforming the whole row of teeth of a jaw. The pressure of the chewing and grinding starts to be absorbed unevenly. This makes the rest of the teeth more easily movable, more easily affected by the bacteria and more predisposed to tooth decay. As a result both the teeth suffer, and your intestinal system, as it has to cope with insufficiently ground food.
Tooth replacement: when do you need it, and when not
A decision on whether to replace a missing tooth should be made individually and only in consultation with your dentist. Let us see, though, what are the main methods available for replacement of a missing tooth. These are: tooth implanting, partial bridge-like denture, adhesive denture, partially detachable denture. You should also be aware that dental prosthetics, as any other medical procedure, has its contraindications.
To avoid any negative outcomes you need to consult your trusted dentist. The treatment should be planned specifically for you and take into consideration all main aspects of your health. Your dental treatment should focus on preserving your teeth and guaranteeing their proper alignment and functioning.
Modern techniques of tooth replacement allow to change the shape, colour and position of the teeth, restoring the lost solid tissues of the teeth and improving their functioning, normalizing chewing and alleviating the tension of facial muscles and possible headaches, providing at the same time the highest aesthetical norms .
Restorative treatment using ceramic
Ceramic is the closest to natural enamel a material, which makes it an ideal choice for teeth restoration.
Ceramic only crowns, inlays, onlays and other restorative treatment components do not contain any metals or other ingredients. This is an advantage in comparison with other materials:
• Aesthetical look and durability
• Precise fitting and strength
• It is neutral in its interaction with your body
Ceramic is also universal in its use in dentistry, as various types of crowns, inlays, onlays, overlays and veneers are made of it. They are all used for both small defects (minor damage to the enamel, cavities resulting from tooth decay), and for complete restoration of missing single teeth or entire jaw (in case of pathological tooth wear).
You can also order in our clinic gum shields that will be made for you personally.
Who need the gum shields?
All the children and youngsters, who are active in sports that are risky in terms of potential traumas or damage to the teeth:
- sports involving direct physical contact (soccer, hockey, boxing, karate, other martial art;
- sports that do not involve direct contact but can be traumatic potentially (alpine skiing, cycling).
Gum shields may also be needed to the people with active life style those enjoying ice or roller skating.
- Your gum shield will be manufactured in a laboratory and will match exactly the impression of your teeth taken by the dentist. The dentist will take into account the structure of your jaws, positioning of your teeth and specific features of your bite
- The tailor-made gum shield will fit you ideally, it won’t affect your speech, and you will wear it with ease and comfort
- It is made of a few layers and is reinforced at the points of strongest impact
Periodontal area, or gums around teeth, play an important role in a man’s dental system: it holds the teeth, regulates pressure during chewing and grinding. performs protective and regeneration functions. Complex structure of the gums make them vulnerable to various diseases (gingivitis, periodontitis, periodontosis). Regrettably, according to some publications in the media, gum diseases incidence reach nowadays up to 98%. If your gums are affected by any kind of disease, you need to turn to a dentist at once and undergo a check-up. A check-up includes an X-ray examination, visual check-up with measuring of the depth of plaque and tartar pockets, assessment of the gums condition, after which periodontogram is drawn up. Periodontogram summarizes the overall condition of the gums.
The dentists of the Dent Lounge clinic warn you that upon the first symptoms of gum disease you need to visit your dentist as soon as possible to be diagnosed and, should the need be, to get necessary treatment. We also remind you of the need to maintain daily oral hygiene procedure that can help avoid these diseases.
Non-invasive conservative methods of treatment are usually used in early stages of gum disease. These methods provide good results and allow preventing the development of pathological conditions.
Scaling and planing of the root of a tooth
The outer layers of the tissue of the root of a tooth are very vulnerable. Because of their porous structure they absorb everything from nicotine and tar to the bacteria. While cleaning the root of a tooth the dentists use special instruments, removing the outer coating, planing the tooth and polishing it. The smoother is the surface of the root, the less plaque and tartar will accumulate and the lower is the probability of an inflammation. Similar effect is reached through the use of the machines that can polish the surface of the root with ultrasound, for instance Vector Paro machine.
Periodontological device Vector Paro removes dental plaque and calculus from the pockets in the gums very gently and painlessly, thus improving general condition of the gums. This procedure is done under local anesthetic and causes no unpleasant sensations in the patients.
Treatment of unstable teeth
In some cases the treatment of periodontal diseases (periodontitis, called also parodontosis) can cause loosening of the teeth in the gums, if parodontosis reaches advanced stage. Gum (gingival) tissues around the teeth stop functioning properly, causing the loosening of the teeth and eventually their displacement and even loss. Splinting is one of the methods of preserving unstable teeth, allowing to fix the mobile teeth with those stable. Special retainer made of fiber glass is affixed to the inner surfaces of the teeth.
Before teeth are splinted they should be professionally scaled and their roots planed. Teeth surfaces should be polished for better adhesion of fiber glass. Splinting allows slowing down the atrophy of the jaw bone and loss of teeth.
Closed and open curettage
Closed curettage consists in the cleaning of periodontal concrements (plaque and bacteria) in the small “pockets” of up to 5 mm deep. These subgingival concrements are removed with ultrasound device and special tooth scalers called the ‘curettes’. Periodontal pockets are then treated with antiseptics.
The open curettage is needed for the cleaning of deeper periodontal pockets of infection and includes therefore the detaching of the gum tissue by an incision, hence the name ‘open curettage’.
Periodontal surgery, or gingivectomy, is necessary in the difficult situations, when conservative methods of treatment do not produce the desired results and the tissues around the teeth are affected by an extensive inflammatory process.
Plastic surgery of displaced tongue frenulums and cords
Displacement of tongue frenulums and cords may affect periodontal tissues and can be corrected through a minor surgery.
With a number of methods for this surgery available, a doctor will determine the most appropriate given specific patient’s needs.
Patchwork type surgeries
This type of gingivectomy is necessary, when there are multiple pockets of periodontal infection and jaw bone is already affected by inflammation. The ‘patches’ of the gums must be removed in the course of this type of surgery.
Local anesthesia is administered during this local gingivectomy. Subgingival concrements are removed, the pockets of infection cleaned and affected portion of jaw bone is restored with bone-forming substances. Inflammation is thus reduced and gum bandage is applied.
Vestibuloplasty is a surgery restoring alveolar ridge height by lowering muscles attaching to the buccal , labial and lingual parts of the jaw. This surgical procedure is not long, is done under local anesthesia, and produces desirable and stable result.
Mucogingival aesthetic surgery (Restoration of recessed gums)
Some surgical or orthodontal treatments, or misalignment of teeth because of ageing may cause recession of a gum. The root of a tooth thus remains open. That conditions understandably affects the overall oral cavity health, not to speak about the aesthetic aspect, smiling, etc). Mucogingival aesthetic surgery easily restores recessed gum by transplanting a piece of healthy gum to the affected ‘patch’. The area of gum thus recovered is stitched and the stitches removed after 10-12 days.
X-ray imaging is done at Dent Lounge with the last generation equipment of the leading manufacturer My Ray (Italy).
Patients are subjected to minimal and insignificant amounts of X-rays comparable with what one gets walking along an embankment paved with granite, or an air flight in a passenger plane.
3-D computer tomography
3-D dental tomography can provide a strong basis for correct diagnosis of any dental disfunction.
Dental Lounge specialists can therefore use the most accurate and detailed three-dimensional imagery in addition to conventional panoramic and targeted X-ray images. Dent Lounge is one of the few dental clinics in Ukraine having the equipment of this level.
Computer programme reproduces three-dimensional image within 1–2 minutes, giving a doctor a possibility to examine all the teeth in three plains, layer by layer at desired intervals.
Imaging capacities of this innovative equipment are invaluable for diagnosing the traumas of facial and jaw systems, anomalies in the development of teeth and jaws, in teeth roots examination and for teeth implanting.
Computer assisted 2-D dental pantograph Makes panoramic X-ray images of both jaws. It is made to all patients older than 15 before any dental treatment. This procedure is indispensable even for an initial consultation. This procedure is absolutely harmless and takes a few minutes.
It allows identifying tooth decay, including the areas under the fillings, any anomalies in teeth development, periodontal disorders, etc. Diagnosis based on these images is accurate and provides timely dental treatment of high quality.
Timely dental treatment can prevent the development of tooth decay and any complications that might develop, if you do not turn to the dentist with your problem as soon as you noticed it. Tooth decay destroys solid tissues of the teeth and can cause odontitis, periodontitis and subsequent loss of a tooth.
To give high quality specialized treatment the specialists of Dent Lounge use wide variety of advanced modern medicines and unique medical instruments and equipment, which enable resolution of even the most complicated dental conditions. They assess the stage of the tooth decay and choose the appropriate method of its treatment. Obviously, the earlier the treatment is tarted, the better are the results.
The types of anesthesia are determined individually for every patient, and in some cases sedation is used*.
Tooth decay treatment at its initial stage
Remineralization is recommended as the treatment of tooth decay at its early stage, when teeth enamel is damaged but slightly. Special gel is applied to the decayed area, impregnating the enamel with ions of fluoride and calcium. The enamel is strengthened after a few procedures so, that the spread of the decay is prevented.
An innovative method of treatment of the enamel affected by tooth decay is used at the Dent Lounge Clinic. The drug Icon (Infiltration Conception, manufactured by DMG, Germany) is applied to the decayed tooth surface, sealing it and thus blocking the spread of decay without any surgical procedures.
This unique technology is suitable first of all for the youngest patients, relieving them from stress.
Treatment of extensive tooth decay
If a tooth has decayed so that both its enamel and dentine (solid tissue) are already affected, a dentist needs to treat the cavity of the decay and cement it with a filling. Both the destroyed tissue should be removed, and the aesthetic aspect of the tooth restored. Tooth decay treatment is completed by the filling adjustment and polishing, after which the tooth is covered with fluoride solution.
*Both local and general anesthesia can be administered to a patient depending on the type of dental treatment and the patient’s condition and possibility of allergic reactions. Dent Lounge Clinic has all newest necessary equipment for any kind of anesthesia, and among its doctors there are perfectly qualified anesthesiologists.
- General anesthesia is time saving, it allows a number of dental procedures in one visit
- The patient feels no pain and no psychological stress, all the procedures are comfortable and imperceptible
- Modern general anesthetics do not cause allergic reactions
Treatment of root canals
Root canals are treated when odontitis or periodontitis is detected. This is the only way to preserve a tooth.
Odontitis is a pain syndrome manifesting mostly in night time. But if infection reaches the root canal, periodontitis develops, threatening to affect even the jaw bone.
Endodontic (tooth pulp, or dentine) treatment is conducted in a few stages. The tooth is anesthesised, then the decayed tissues are removed with Dentsply X-Smart Plus (made in USA) device, opening the canal. We always treat the canal not only mechanically removing disintegrated tissues, but with deep disinfection medicines like sodium hypochlorite, which we activate using EndoActivator Dentsply device.
Canal’s length is measured by a special device, apex locator Dentsply (manufactured in USA). Its data is then compared with the data of 3-D tomography imagery. After the disinfection and removal of all decayed tissues, the canal is occluded. The next stage is the reconstruction of the upper part of the tooth, its crown. Both direct restorations can be used for that (the fillings) and ceramic crowns and inlays/onlays.
We provide a broad range of surgical procedures. The clinic’s equipment and professionalism of its doctors makes possible even the most complex extractions of the teeth, as well as surgeries for preservation of the teeth, plastic surgeries of upper and lower lip frenulums, tongue frenulum, removal of benign tumors, various augmentations of jaw bones, endosteal (inside the bones) implanting, etc. The options of the modern dental surgery have become much broader than even a few years ago. The main task of today’s dental surgery is to preserve the patients’ teeth.
These surgeries preserve physiological function of the teeth, making possible the installation of the crowns and dental bridges at a later stage.
Plastic surgeries of the frenulums
The indications for the surgeries of the frenulums are numerous. First, a short frenulum impedes the movement of a lip, making it difficult to speak. Then, it “pulls” the mucous membrane so that blood circulation is disrupted, which can cause the gum recession and open the roots of the teeth, provoking periodontitis in the adults and distorting teeth alignment in children.
Any dental surgery at Dent Lounge Clinic is done with the use of modern anesthetics of the last generation, making the whole treatment painless and comfortable for the patient. All anesthetics, including those for general anesthesia, are chosen for every patient individually.
Today three main types of local anesthesia are in use. These are application anesthesia, maxillary infiltration anesthesia and conduction anesthesia.
Anesthetic medicines are selected according to the patient’s general condition, and his/her clinical condition.
Before anesthetic medicine is injected, the area of injection is covered by a special gel with anesthetic effect. Special super-thin needles, produced by a leading French manufacturer, are used for injections, so the patient practically does not even feel the injection.
If a patient so wishes, or on medical indications, a surgical procedure can be done after intravenous sedation. But additional tests need to be done in advance. At the time of the surgery a team of anesthesiologists is at stand-by in the operating room.
We strictly follow all the norms of the patients protection against viral infections (Anti-HIV, Anti-Hepatitis and others). All the procedures, from an injection of the anesthetic to the stitching, are fulfilled in a thoroughly sterilized environment.
With modern methods and treatments the tooth loss can be prevented thanks to the following surgical procedures:
- Excision of the upper section of the tooth root – the removal of the upper part of the root affected by persistent inflammation in the form of a granuloma or cyst.
- Dental hemisection – a surgical operation removing one of the roots suffering from granuloma or cyst in a tooth with multiple roots. After the surgery the tooth can be covered by an orthopedic crown.
- Creation of the superstructure of the tooth crown
